I’m not a peeping Tom – I actually prefer it when no one is home. I just want to see how people decorate. How they place furniture. My husband knows to drive slowly by homes with big, open windows so I can gawk. Then, sometimes when I’m feeling really crazy, I’ll rearrange the furniture in my head. The repressed decorator in me asks “Why would anyone put a couch along that wall? It would look totally better at an angle by the fireplace”.

If I’m driving by your house, chances are I’m looking in your windows

I do that, too. When I was little my grandma would take me driving through the rich neighborhoods just for that purpose. All the homes always had the drapes open and the lights on. I thought they looked like magazines. I wasn’t until I was older that I realized not everyone grew up doing this. My husband thinks I’m a freak and swears that people don’t leave their curtains open for the enjoyment of strangers, but you know they do.

When I visit my sister-in-law for a weekend we always go for a walk after dinner and do the same thing. Check out wall colors and stuff…..

I am so glad I am not alone! I thought it was just OCDs like my mom and I!

I am sending a link to this post to my husband right now. He thinks I am insane and he will think you are insane, too, but at least he’ll know that I have company. If he drives too fast past an open window I actually make him go back.

“Hello, I love you – won’t you tell me your name?” Haha. Seriously though, I thought I was the only one who did that. I love seeing what kind of art people hang on their walls, what colors they painted their accent wall… Love it.

Here via Kerflop. Already I love your site so much I added it to Bloglines — I think you’re doing a great thing here. However, here I was thinking I was all edgy by putting my couch at an angle to the fireplace. Either you’ve peeped in my window or I’m not edgy at all!

I’m one of that type as well. When I go over to a friend’s house, my mind starts reeling with ideas. Sometimes it annoys, the other times, it makes for interesting conversation.

my favorite is to look at homes for sale online- they always show pictures. I play the rearrange game too- “Oh I would totally repaint that room, and the couch should not be in front of the window”
I love christmas time when people have their trees decorated and displayed in the front window.

I do that, too! But first I leave my own curtains open with the light on for someone else to check out while I’m gone.

Add me to the list – I am always looking in windows when the lights are on and definitely only looking at how they decorate. I always take my dog for a walk between 5 & 6 in the evening and it always catches me off guard when the time changes in the fall and I can see in all of my neighbors houses. I’m sure they think I am super nosy.

I like to look at floor plans in the Sunday paper and move walls. Especially with a bold red felt-tip pen. Does that make me a closet architect?

Heather – I too am guilty of browsing online for homes for sale. I live in a masterplanned community, so often my exact house is for sale. I like seeing what others have done with theirs. I wouldn’t be so creepy as to actually go to an open house or anything…

I do that all the time. I feel so nosey when I do it, but I can’t help it!
